Laser engraving allows the printing of text, numbers, bar code and also pictures on the card. The image or text is laser engraved on the card in dark brown colour.Laser engraving is the safest card personalisation technology as it cannot be erased. The data will be burnt with laser onto the various layers of the card. Laser engraving is used in the personalisation of documents (ID-cards, driver’s licence etc) and debit cards.
Embossing or relief printing allows the printing of text and numbers onto the card. The relief text may be in silver, golden, black or white. The given text will also be visible on the reverse side of the card and in case there is text on the reverse side, it may become illegible when coinciding with the relief print. Embossing is used in the personalisation of credit cards.

Infill printing (indent printing) allows the printing of text and numbers onto the cards in white or black. Infill printing is generally used in case white print is required or in case embossing cannot be used due to the relief on the reverse side of the card.
Thermal transfer printing may be used to produce colour images or logos and single-coloured text, bar codes and numbers onto the card. In addition to standard colours, thermal transfer printing may also be in silver or golden. The given technology is mainly used in the personalisation of customer cards. However, compared to other printing technologies, thermal printing may be removed more easily from the plastic card.
